DEFINITION: The low washer fluid indicator always indicates low washer fluid or does not turn on with low washer fluid.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the washer fluid level switch connector.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait for about 15 seconds.

Does the low washer fluid indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the low washer fluid indicator signal circuit terminal in the washer fluid level switch connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait for about 15 seconds.

Does the low washer fluid indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire across the washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait for about 15 seconds.

Does the low washer fluid indicator illuminate?

Test the low washer fluid indicator signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the low washer fluid indicator signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the washer fluid level switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Inspect for poor connections at the washer fluid level switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the washer fluid level switch. Refer to Washer Pump/Reservoir Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
