Removal Procedure

The C3500HD lever looks the same as the other models, but uses a different torque applying lever assembly.

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Lower the instrument panel section. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Disconnect the connector from the parking brake switch.

  5. Disconnect the release cable (4).

  6. Object Number: 156664  Size: SH
  7. Remove the release handle (2).
  8. Remove the bolts.

  9. Object Number: 156657  Size: SH
  10. Remove the lever assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lever assembly (1).

  2. Object Number: 156657  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the release handle (2).
  6. Connect the release cable.
  7. Connect the connector to the park brake switch.
  8. Install the dash assembly. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Adjust the park brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
