Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2. Apply the park brake.

  4. Remove the master cylinder nuts.
  5. Remove the master cylinder and bracket.
  6. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

  7. Object Number: 156233  Size: SH
  8. Remove the retainer.
  9. Remove the stoplamp switch.
  10. Remove the pushrod.

  11. Object Number: 156455  Size: SH
  12. Remove four nuts.
  13. Remove the booster assembly.
  14. Remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 156455  Size: SH
  1. Install the gasket.
  2. Install the booster assembly.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install four nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 36 N·m (26 lb ft).

  6. Install the pushrod.
  7. Install the stoplamp switch and retainer.
  8. Install the vacuum hose.

  9. Object Number: 913  Size: SH
  10. Gauge the booster pushrod. Refer to Power Brake Booster Push Rod Gauging .

  11. Object Number: 156454  Size: SH
  12. Install the master cylinder and bracket.
  13. Install the master cylinder nuts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (20 lb ft).

  15. Release the park brake.
  16. Connect the battery negative cable.
