Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the surge tank retaining bolts.
  4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose.
  5. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the low coolant sensor.

  7. Object Number: 72196  Size: SH
  8. Remove the surge tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the low coolant sensor.

  2. Object Number: 72196  Size: SH
  3. Install the surge tank.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the surge tank retaining bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the surge tank bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Connect the surge tank outlet hose.
  8. Connect the surge tank inlet hose.
  9. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
