Circuit Description

Battery voltage is supplied to the body control module (PZM) at connector C1 terminal B1. While the PZM is awake the battery voltage at connector C1 terminal B3 is measured every 300 ms.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The battery voltage measured at connector C1 terminal B1 is more than 15.5 volts for 4 monitoring cycles.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The PZM stores DTC B1982 as current.
    • When DTC B1982 is current, class 2 loss of serial data DTCs will not be set.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The battery voltage is less than 15.5 volts in the next monitoring cycle. DTC B1982 changes to history.
    • A history code clears after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition is no longer present.

Diagnostic Aids

    • DTC B1982 may set if the vehicle is connected to a battery charger on fast or boost charge.
    • Use a scan tool in order to monitor the battery voltage display of other modules. If the other modules display a voltage higher than 15.5 volts, refer to Charging System Check in Engine Electrical.

  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, engine running.
  3. Select the PZM data list.

Does the scan tool display the battery voltage within the specified range?

9-15.5 V

Retrieve the IPC DTCs.

Is DTC B1982 current?

Replace the PZM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
