The theft deterrent system on this vehicle is comprised of the following 2 separate systems:

  1. The Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key® II)
  2. The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System

These systems are described and diagnosed separately.

The Pass-Key® II is designed in order to help prevent vehicle theft by disabling the engine. This is true unless a key with a specific electrical resistance is used in the ignition switch.

The system contains the following components:

    • The ignition key
    • The steering column lock cylinder
    • The theft deterrent relay
    • The instrument cluster (IPC)
    • The powertrain control module (PCM)

The CTD system is designed in order to provide a warning in the event of forced entry through the doors and the trunk. When a forced entry is attempted, the alarm warning system is activated. This condition causes the horn to sound intermittently. The exterior lights also flash in unison for approximately 3 minutes. The CTD system does not affect engine starting.

The system contains the following components:

    • The door ajar switches
    • The trunk lock cylinder
    • The IPC
    • The body control module (PZM)
