LOCKING WIRE WHEEL COVER WRENCHES INFORMATION

This bulletin outlines procedures for obtaining 1985 FWD DeVille and Fleetwood wire wheel cover and aluminum wheel fasterner replacement parts. The information is presented in two sections.

Section A: Wire Wheel Cover (Option N91) Replacement Part Information.

Section B: Aluminum Wheel (Option PD8) Fastener Replacement Part Information.

A. Wire Wheel Covers (N91)

Wire wheel covers for the 1985 FWD DeVille and Fleetwood are produced in two companies - NI Industries and I.T.T. Thompson. Packages from either supplier are shipped in the trunk of the car and should contain the following items:

1. Four locking simulated wire wheel covers 2. Four lock brackets 3. Four lock nuts 4. Four center emblems 5. One lock key wrench 6. One ID/Registration Card 7. One Removal/Installation instruction label

Additionally, twelve special flaged wheel lug nuts are installed on the vehicle at the factory.

At the time of new car delivery, the contents of the simulated wire wheel cover package should be inspected for missing, damaged, or incorrect parts. Any discrepancies should be noted on the delivery receipt and a transportation claim should be filed.

The descriptions found on the following page may be used to distinguish wheel covers produced by NI Industries (Figure 1) from those made by I.T.T. Thompson (Figure 2).

Wire wheel cover package discrepancies may be handled in one of the following manners:

1. Lock Key Wrench Missing

If the lock key wrench is missing from the vehicle when received or is lost after delivery, send the ID/Registration Card adn $7.50 to I.T.T. Thompson or NI Industries, depending on the manufacturer of the wheel cover. A new lock key wrench will be sent to the dealership. Lock key wrenches may be purchased only from the respective supplier.

2. ID/Registration Card Missing

Provide I.T.T. Thompson or NI Industries with the color of the lock key wrench. A new color coordinated ID/Registration Card will be sent to the dealership.

3. ID/Registration Card and Lock Key Wrench Both Missing

Send the color of the lock nut and $7.50 to I.T.T. Thompson or NI Industries. The correct lock key wrench and ID/Registration Card will be sent to the dealership.

4. Lock Key Wrench Does Not Fit Lock Bolt

Send the lock key wrench and ID/Registration Card to I.T.T. Thompson or NI Industries with a letter indicating the color of the lock nut. The proper lock key wrench and ID/Registration Card will be sent to the dealership.

5. Other Wire Wheel Cover Replacement Parts

Other missing, damaged or incorrect parts such as wire wheel cover assemblies, lock brackets, center emblems, special flanged lug nuts and lock nuts can be ordered through GMWDD using the following part numbers:

In addition to individual components, a complete wire wheel cover package P/N 998567, is available through GMWDD and includes the following components:

1. Four locking wire wheel covers 2. Four center emblems 3. Four lock brackets 4. Four lock nuts 5. 12 special flanged lug nuts 6. One lock key wrench 7. One ID/Registration Card 8. Installation Instructions 9. Removal/Installation instruction label

B. Aluminum Wheels (PD8)

The Aluminum wheels option includes the following items:

1. One ID/Registration Card installed in the glove box. 2. One lock key - attached to the tire lug nut wrench in the trunk. 3. Four locking nuts. 4. Sixteen special chrome lug nuts. 5. Four hub caps. 6. Four aluminum wheels.

At the time of new car delivery, the vehicle should be inspected for missing, damaged or incorrect aluminum wheel components. Any discrepancies should be noted on the delivery receipt and a transportation claim should be filed. Aluminum wheel option discrepancies may be handled in one of the following manners.

1. Lock Key Missing

Order a new lock key to match the color code on the ID/Registration Card using the McGard/GM Dealership Order Form. Copies of the order form are included in the McGard/Cadillac Dealership packet.

2. ID/Registration Card Missing

Using the McGard master key set, determine which color coded ID/Registration card is correct for the vehicle. A card can then be ordered with a McGard/GM Dealership Order Form, copies of which are included in the McGard/Cadillac Dealership Packet.

3. Lock Key Does Not Fit Lock Bolt

Using the McGard master key set, determine which color coded lock key is needed. The key can then be ordered with a mcGard/GM Dealership Order Form, copis of which are included in the McGard/Cadillac Dealership packet.

4. ID/Registration Card and Lock Key Both Missing

Using the McGard master key set, determine which color coded ID/Registration Card and lock key is needed. The key and card can then be ordered with a McGard/ GM dealership Order Form, copies of which are included in the McGard/Cadillac Dealership packet.

All orders should either be mailed in the McGard envelopes provided in the McGard/ Cadillac Dealership packet or sent to the address printed on the bottom of the order form.

Dealers who need a McGard/Cadillac Dealership packet, and/or a McGard master key set should write or call the following:

Dealers may obtain order forms or pre-paid McGard envelopes by sending a request to McGard on dealership stationery. These written requests must include an authorized signature.

5. Locking Nuts Missing

A complete set of four wheel locking nuts and the appropriate color coded wrench can be ordered from GMWDD as part number 10029117.

Individual locking nuts may be obtained from McGard by submitting a written request on dealership stationery. Include the color code of the lock key and a check for $4.50 for each locking nut requested. These requests should be mailed in the McGard envelopes provided in the McGard/Cadillad Dealership packet.
