Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2004 🢒 DeVille 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 4.6L 🢒 Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 475295 Size: SH
  1. Remove the 2 nuts (2) from the intake manifold sight shield (1).
  2. Remove the sight shield (1) from the engine.

    3. Object Number: 777364 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) dirty air tube (2) from the camshaft cover.
  4. Disconnect the engine ground strap. Refer to Engine Ground Strap Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire.
  6. Disconnect the vacuum tubes from the secondary air injection (AIR) vent solenoid.
  7. Disconnect the AIR vent solenoid electrical connector.
  8. Remove the AIR control valve bracket. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Shutoff Valve Replacement - Bank 1 .
  9. Remove the nut securing the AIR tube.

  10. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1 .
  11. Disconnect the cable harness clips at the front of the camshaft cover and position the cable harness aside.

    12. Object Number: 522725 Size: SH
  12. Remove the 9 camshaft cover bolts.
  13. Remove the camshaft cover.
  14. Discard the camshaft cover perimeter seals and spark plug seals if there is any evidence of damage or if the seal comes out of the groove in the cover during removal.
  15. Clean and inspect the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the camshaft cover seal as required.

    2. Important: Be careful to prevent the exposed section of the camshaft cover seal from being damaged by the edge of the cylinder head casting.

  2. Install the camshaft cover.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 9 camshaft cover bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  4. Insure that the spark plug seals are in position.
  5. Install the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1 .
  6. Install the AIR control valve bracket. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Shutoff Valve Replacement - Bank 1 .

    7. Object Number: 777364 Size: SH
  7. Connect the cable harness clips to the cable harness at the front of the camshaft cover.
  8. Connect the AIR vent solenoid electrical connector.
  9. Connect the vacuum tubes to the AIR vent solenoid.
  10. Connect the oxygen sensor wire.
  11. Connect the engine ground strap. Refer to Engine Ground Strap Replacement .
  12. Connect the PCV dirty air tube (2) to the camshaft cover.

    13. Object Number: 475295 Size: SH
  13. Position the intake manifold sight shield (1) to the engine.
  14. Install the 2 intake manifold sight shield nuts (2).

    15. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
