Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.

  3. Object Number: 324821  Size: SH
  4. Remove the wire harness assembly (4) out of the wire harness strap (5).
  5. Remove the wire harness straps (3) from the wire harness assembly.
  6. Remove the wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).
  7. Disconnect the theft deterrent module electrical connector.

  9. Remove the theft deterrent module (2) from the lock module assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 324869  Size: SH
  1. Install the theft deterrent module (2) to the lock module (1).
  2. Route the electrical harness and connect the electrical connector.

  3. Object Number: 324821  Size: SH
  4. Install a new wire harness strap to the upper tilt head assembly (2).
  5. Install new wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly (3).
  6. Install the wire harness assembly into the wire harness strap (5).
  7. Connect the theft deterrent module electrical connector.
  8. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  10. Program the theft deterrent module. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components .
