Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System
    • J 38042 Dual O-Ring Tube Separator

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Loosen the O-ring joint using the J 39500-B .

  3. Object Number: 592429  Size: SH
  4. Separate the tubing halves.

  5. Object Number: 592428  Size: SH
  6. Remove the expansion tube (1) from the A/C tube (2).

Installation Procedure

J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

  1. Lubricate the O-ring with 525 refrigerant.
  2. Install the expansion tube (1) into the A/C line (2).

  3. Object Number: 592429  Size: SH
  4. Connect the O-ring joint.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the dual O-ring joint.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the O-ring joint to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Reposition the line (1) to its original position in the plastic hold-down clamp.
  9. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .
