Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

Notice: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  4. Thoroughly clean the area around the electronic brake control module (EBCM) of all dirt and debris.
  5. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.

Master Cylinder Brake Pipe Fitting (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Cap the brake pipe fittings to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  2. Hand tighten the brake pipe fittings before tightening to the final torque specification.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Brake Pipe Fitting

Procedure

  1. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  2. Hand tighten the brake pipe fitting before tightening to the final torque specification.

Tighten
18 N·m (13 lb ft)

Brake Pipe Fitting (Qty: 3)

Procedure

  1. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  2. Hand tighten the brake pipe fitting before tightening to the final torque specification.

Tighten
18 N·m (13 lb ft)

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) to Bracket Bolt

Tighten
10 N·m (89 lb in)

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV)

Tip
Separate the BPMV from the EBCM after removing the assembly from the vehicle.

Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Bolt (Qty: 4)

Procedure

After the installation is complete, tighten the bolts in a cross pattern beginning with the upper left bolt.

Tighten
3 N·m (27 lb in)

Electronic Brake Control Module

Procedure

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces of the EBCM and the BPMV with denatured alcohol and a clean shop cloth.
  2. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  3. Perform the Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure.
  4. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
