Component Name

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Preliminary Procedure

Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tighten
3 N·m (27 lb in)

Steering Column Lower Trim Cover

Procedure

  1. If equipped with a power steering column, disconnect any electrical connectors as needed.
  2. The rear of the steering column lower trim cover is engaged in a rubber steering column shroud that it must be disconnected from before it can be removed.
  3. If equipped with AN3, disconnect the shift lever seal from the steering column lower trim cover.

Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Bolt

Tighten
1.5 N·m (13 lb in)

Steering Column Upper Trim Cover

Procedure

  1. If equipped with AN3, disconnect the shift lever seal from the steering column upper trim cover.
  2. The rear of the steering column upper trim cover is engaged in a rubber steering column shroud that it must be disconnected from before it can be removed.

Ignition Lock Cylinder

Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
  2. Use a bent tip awl to push down on the retaining pin of the ignition lock cylinder.
  3. Release the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position and remove it.
