VEHICLE RIDE IS TOO HARSH OR SENSITIVE TO ROAD

SUBJECT: VEHICLE RIDE IS TOO HARSH OR SENSITIVE TO ROAD SURFACE IRREGULARITIES (CHECK TIRE PRESSURE/INSTALL "SOFT RIDE" SPEED SENSITIVE SUSPENSION (SSS) MODULE)

MODELS: 1994-95 CADILLAC DEVILLE WITH SPEED SENSITIVE SUSPENSION

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS OF THE ABOVE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH SPEED SENSITIVE SUSPENSION (SSS) MAY COMMENT THAT THE RIDE IS TOO HARSH OR SENSITIVE TO IRREGULARITIES IN THE ROAD SURFACE. THIS MAY BE ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT SPEEDS OF 30-65 MPH (48-105 KM/H).

CAUSE:

THIS CONDITION CAN BE THE RESULT OF OVER-INFLATED TIRES. IT MAY ALSO BE MODIFIED BY THE SSS CONTROLLER CALIBRATION.

CORRECTION:

1. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. THERE SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN 30 PSI (207 KPA) IN ANY OF THE TIRES AT ROOM TEMPERATURE (72 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT; 22 DEGREES CELSIUS). THE TIRE PRESSURE CAN BE LOWERED TO 28 PSI (193 KPA) IF A SATISFACTORY RIDE FEEL IS ACHIEVED.

2. AN SSS CONTROLLER WITH A REVISED CALIBRATION IS AVAILABLE. THIS CALIBRATION CHANGES THE SPEEDS AT WHICH THE RIDE MODE SHIFTS FROM COMFORT TO NORMAL TO FIRM AND BACK AGAIN. THIS NEW CONTROLLER CAN BE USED WHEN SSS AND CHASSIS PERFORMANCE IS NORMAL AS COMPARED TO OTHER SIMILARLY EQUIPPED VEHICLES.
