PROPER SERVICE FLUID FOR MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION

MODELS AFFECTED:1986-1/2 - 1988 CIMARRONS

All 1986-1/2 - 1988 Cimarrons equipped with the HM-282 manual transaxle should be serviced with Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (STF). This fluid prevents gear clash and reduces cold shift effort.

All 1988 Cimarrons have been filled with STF in production. When servicing an affected vehicle, note that although manual transmission fluid can be mixed with STF, shift effort increases proportionately.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT REFILL THE HM-282 WITH ENGINE OIL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID. THESE FLUIDS DO NOT WORK WELL WITH THE SYNCHRONIZERS CAUSING GEAR CLASH AND/OR INCREASED SHIFT EFFORT.
