ADDITION OF AUX ELECT. EQUIP. CONNECTIVE PARTS AVAILABLE

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL MODELS WITH SIDE TERMINAL BATTERIES

The use of electronics on today's vehicles often require that both power and ground connections for add/on (auxiliary) electrical equipment (mobile radios, alarm systems, etc.) be made at the battery. Parts are now available to make these connections while maintaining the corrosion resistance and electrical integrity designed into the Delco side terminal battery.

The Side Terminal Adaptor Package, P/N 1846855, when combined with the longer battery bolt (P/N 12004188) and spacer (P/N 12004189) will provide the corrosion resistant connection.

NOTICE: Special care must be taken to properly protect all circuits connected directly to the battery. A fuse or circuit breaker should be located as near to the battery as practical to lessen the possibility of a short circuit which may result in vehicle damage.

We recommend that all add/on (auxiliary) electrical equipment installations, using direct battery connections, use this connection procedure and follow the circuit protection caution.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
