Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

Check the integrity of the Wiper fuse.

Is the Wiper Fuse open?

 

Go to Step  8

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the HI position.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal E of the windshield wiper motor connector and ground.

Does the voltage measure at the specified value?

B+

Go to Step  4

Go to Step  5

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the windshield wiper motor connector and ground.

Does the resistance measure within the specified range?

Less than 2 ohms

Go to Step 6

Go to Step  7

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal 4 of the windshield wiper/washer switch connector and ground

Does the voltage measure at the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 9

  1. Inspect for a faulty connection at the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT F9.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT F9.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Locate a short to ground in any of the following circuits.
  2. • Voltage feed circuits
    • WSW motor voltage LO circuits
    • Motor voltage HI circuits
    • Mist signal circuit
    • Interval signal circuit
  3. Repair the short to ground in these circuits.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering.

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT FY11 or in CKT FY1.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT FY11 or in CKT FY1.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect all of the connectors and the components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the windshield wipers operate properly at low speed.

Do the windshield wipers operate properly at High speed?
