Power Steering Pump Replacement LS2

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
  4. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  5. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .

Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Fitting

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip

    • Discard the O-ring seal and instal a new seal prior to installation.
    • Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt at the generator.

Tighten

    • 40 N·m (30 lb ft)
    • 9 N·m (80 lb in)

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump

Tip

    • Transfer the power steering reservoir outlet pipe/hose to the new pump prior to installation.
    • After installation fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Replacement LP1, LY7

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  4. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  5. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .

Tip
Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip

Tighten
40 N·m (30 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump Bracket Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump Bracket

Tip
Power steering pump and bracket needs to be removed and installed to the vehicle as an assembly.

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
22 N·m (17 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump

Tip

    • Separate the power steering pump from the power steering pump bracket out of the vehicle.
    •  Assemble prior to installation in the vehicle.
    • After installation fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
