Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Close all the doors.
  2. Turn OFF the interior lamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Are the courtesy lamps ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Close all of the doors.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Door Jamb Switch parameters in each of the door modules inputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Jamb Switch parameter is OFF for all the doors?

Go to Step 4

  1. Ensure the interior lamp switch is OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Interior Lamp Switch parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Interior Lamp Switch parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door lock actuator.
  3. Turn on the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Door Jamb Switch parameter in the appropriate door module inputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Jamb Switch parameter is OFF?

Test the door open switch signal circuit of the inoperative door lock actuator for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the courtesy lamp on switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the courtesy lamp control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
