Outside Mirrors Inoperative or Inaccurate After Door Module Replacement - keywords driver DZM front passenger program zone

Subject:Outside Mirrors Inoperative or Inaccurate After Door Module Replacement

Models:2004-2005 Cadillac CTS
2004-2005 Cadillac SRX

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

SRX and CTS share the same part number for the Door Zone Module (DZM), their door mirrors are wired opposite in the vertical direction. The production DZM is programmed to identify which vehicle it's installed in.

Programming for the service replacement DZM defaults to the SRX. If a service replacement part is installed in a CTS, the mirrors will not operate.

Although the DZM does not ordinarily need programming for use in the SRX, provision exists in the Tech 2. This will be needed in case a module is moved from a CTS to an SRX.

The rear door modules are not affected because they do not operate mirrors.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To ensure proper mirror operation, perform the following procedure to program the replacement DZM in the CTS:

    • Connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle
    • Build the vehicle as a 2005 Model Year CTS or SRX
    • Body
    • Door Module(s)
    • Select either Driver Door Module or Passenger Door Module (functionality is not there for the rear door modules)
    • Special Functions
    • Set Options
    • Vehicle Type - select the correct vehicle SRX (module default) or CTS

Vehicle Type information is stored in a PID and can be verified on the Tech 2 by looking at the following:

    • Door Module(s)
    • Select either Driver Door Module or Passenger Door Module (functionality is not there for the rear door modules)
    • ID Information
    • Module Information 3
    • Vehicle Type
    • You can then verify either SRX or CTS for the vehicle you are working on

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
