Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls-2.6L and 3.2L.
  2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
  3. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 815453  Size: SH
  5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  6. Remove the water pump pulley from the water pump.

  7. Object Number: 785728  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts ONLY.
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the accessory mounting bracket, and position aside.

  10. Object Number: 821100  Size: SH
  11. Remove the timing belt cover bolts.
  12. Remove the timing belt cover from the engine.
  13. Clean and inspect the timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Front Cover Cleaning and Inspection .
  14. Inspect the timing belt for serviceability. Refer to Timing Belt Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 821100  Size: SH
  1. Position the timing belt cover to the engine.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the timing belt cover bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the timing belt cover bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).


    Object Number: 785728  Size: SH
  5. Position the power steering pump to the accessory mounting bracket.
  6. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts in sequence to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  8. Position the water pump pulley to the water pump.
  9. Install the water pump pulley bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  11. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  12. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
  13. Install the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls-2.6L and 3.2L.
