Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose/Pipe Replacement LHD

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



2. Position the J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose (2) from the surge tank (1).
3. Remove the wiper motor module. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.



4. Remove the bolt securing the surge tank outlet pipe to the engine rear lift bracket.



5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (1) from the bracket (3).



6. Remove the bolt (6) securing the surge tank outlet pipe (1) to the vent housing.
7. Position the J 38185 to the clamp (5) in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the coolant inlet pipe (4).
8. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (1) from the engine.

1. Position the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (1) to the engine.
2. Position the J 38185 to the clamp (5) in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the coolant inlet pipe (4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the bolt (2) securing the surge tank outlet pipe (1) to the engine rear lift bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the surge tank outlet pipe to engine rear lift bracket bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

4. Install the bolt (6) securing the surge tank outlet pipe (1) to the vent housing.

Tighten
Tighten the surge tank outlet pipe to vent housing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




5. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector (1) to the bracket (3).



6. Position the J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1).
7. Install the wiper motor module. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

1. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



2. Position the J 38185 to the clamp (1) in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank.



3. Position the J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the coolant inlet pipe.
4. Remove the surge tank outlet hose from vehicle.

1. Position the J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the coolant inlet pipe.



2. Position the J 38185 to the clamp (1) in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank.
3. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the outlet hose (2) from the surge tank (1).
3. Loosen the bolt on the bracket which secures the surge tank outlet hose to the engine.
4. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the thermostat assembly.
5. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe from the engine.

1. Position the surge tank outlet hose/pipe to the engine.
2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the bolt to the bracket securing the surge tank outlet pipe to the engine.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




4. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the outlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1).
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the outlet hose (2) from the surge tank (1).
3. Remove the nuts on the bracket which secures the surge tank outlet hose to the cowl.
4. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the heater hose pipe.
5. Remove the surge tank outlet hose from the pipe.

1. Position the surge tank outlet hose to the heater hose pipe.
2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the heater hose pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the nut to the bracket securing the surge tank outlet pipe to the cowl.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




4. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the outlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1).
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
