GOLD KEY BINDS IN DOOR LOCKS RE-CUT GOLD KEYS

SUBJECT: GOLD KEYS BIND IN DOOR LOCKS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1990-1993 ALLANTES

This bulletin supersedes Service bulletin T-91-90 which should be discarded. This bulletin is being revised to add 1992 and 1993 model years.

Some 1990-1993 Allantes may experience high key efforts when using the gold keys in the door locks. This may be caused by the factory cut of the gold keys. To repair this condition, re-cut the gold keys on a duplicating key cutter using the silver flashlight key as the pattern. Do not re-cut using a Curtis key cutter. It is not necessary to replace the gold keys for this condition.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
