SUBJECT: 1990 LABOR TIME GUIDE (LTG) AUGUST REVISION AND 1991 INITIAL EDITION

The 1990 Labor Time Guide August Revision and 1991 Initial Labor Time Guide are scheduled to be shipped to dealers in early September.

The 1990 LTG August Revision includes many changes. This bulletin summarizes many of those changes. These changes also apply to the 1991 LTG. Additionally, the results of the Labor Time Guide Requests for Review from May 30, to July 16, 1990 are included.

At the end of the Labor Time Guide are Request For Review forms you can use to submit requests for additional time, new operations, or other comments/suggestions. If you are interested in receiving paper copies of the LTG or additional copies of microfiche, refer to DSIB 90-I-8. You can address any questions or comments to Jeff Clark (313) 554-6946.

- New Art

- Exterior paint guide by carline has been added after the exterior paint section (A0008-A5544). - Paint stripe guide has been added after the exterior paint section (A0008-A5544). - Revised exterior trim for the Eldorado. - Steering column and power steering system has been added after the steering section (A008-A5544).

- As a result of a Request For Review from Andrew Kalipetis of Nacht Cadillac we have added time to perform the idle learn procedure on applicable Labor Operations. Those operations are indicated vith an includes statement. The idle learn procedure is required any time the battery is disconnected. In some cases the Service Information Manual may say to disconnect the battery, and corresponding Labor Operations may not include the add statement. The Service Manual procedure will be revised to omit the battery disconnect step.

- Labor Operations which require battery disconnect now include time to reset the radio stations and clock. An include statement is noted on all applicable Labor Operations.

- There is a new list of failure codes. These replace the trouble codes in the beginning of the book. This list includes code 9Z-No Trouble Found. This code should not be used ror claims on Cadillac models. Two new codes which have been added are 2Y-Rattle and 2Z-Squeak. Please be sure to use these where appropriate. Refer to DSIB 90-I-63 for more information on new failure codes.

- The description for Policy S in the introduction has been revised. New Policy S statements have been added to Labor Operations which may require transportation to and from the repair location. These allow an additional .3 hour for transportation. See B2020 as an example.

- The 1991 LTG includes a revised paint material allowance chart.

- Many deletions and additions were made to the paint section to better reflect the current vehicle content.

- Labor Operations A554l-A5544 have been added for water spot buffing.

- Paint times have been eliminated from the panel repair section (A9040-A9600). You should refer to the paint section for the appropriate paint time and material allowance.

- The introduction for the panel replacement section (S00l0-Sl700) has been revised.

- Labor Operations for the GM Maintenance Program have been added at the end of the book. No times will be published. Submit questions and comments to MIC; 3031 West Grand Boulevard; Suite 603; Detroit, MI 48202.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
