REAR INTERIOR LAMP FALLS OUT REPAIR PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: REAR INTERIOR LAMP FALLS OUT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987-1991 ALLANTES

Some 1987-1991 Allantes may experience a condition of the rear interior lamp (located behind driver's seat under the boot well) falling out of its retainers when the boot well cover or doors are slammed. This condition may be caused by mis-installed lamp retaining clips. To repair this condition use the following service procedure:

1. Inspect the lamp retaining clips to verify that the long side of the clip is oriented toward the center of the lamp. Remove and install correctly if necessary. Refer to Figure 1.

2. If the clips are oriented properly and the condition still occurs, add a large flat washer in the position shown in Figure 1 to secure the lamp to the clips.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6536 at .2 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
