SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE SEC. 8A CONTENT AND FORMAT CHANGES

SUBJECT: CHANGES TO SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL SECTION 8A CONTENT AND FORMAT ON 1991-1992 ELDORADOS, SEVILLES, BROUGHAMS, AND ALLANTES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several content and format changes have been made to Section 8A of the 1991-1992 Cadillac Service Information Manual. These changes were made in response to input from dealer personnel through CAD-STAR, Cadillac Dealer Councils, and Cadillac parts and Service Managers' meetings. The intent of this bulletin is to list and describe the changes as well as inform you as to when they were included in the Service Information Manual.

Harness Repair Information:

The wiring connector part numbers and terminal information which have been printed in Dealer Service Information bulletins since 1988 are now found in 8A-6 (DeVille/ Fleetwood was published in DSIB 91-1-56).

Service Parts Catalog Cross Reference

Section 8A-200 lists the names of electrical components in the Final Edition Service Information Manual, its corresponding GMSPO part name, and the catalog group where the part is located.

Schematics:

----------- General Descriptions - For systems that are not covered in other sections of the Service Manual, Section 8A will contain a system description explaining the general system operation. This description follows the component location listing.

Circuit Operation Descriptions - For systems that are not covered in other sections of the Service Manual, Section 8A will contain a circuit operation description (detailed general description) that explains how a system works, what components are involved, and what each circuit does. This description will follow the general description or component location listing.

Option Code References - When optional equipment is shown in Section 8A, it will be identified by the option name followed by the Regular Production Option (RPO) code. The RPO code may be checked against the service parts identification tag on the spare tire well cover to determine whether that equipment should be present.

Export Content - All electrical content, even equipment that is only present on export vehicles, will be shown in Section 8A.

Diagnosis and R&R Reference - Section 8A will reference the appropriate section of the Service Information Manual for diagnosis (if it exists in a section other than 8A and R&R procedures.

Component Location View:

Component View Locators - The component location diagrams, located in 8A-201, will have a car view in the upper left corner highlighting the area of the car shown in the diagram.

Splice Dimensioning - The location of splices will be listed with a measurement to a reference point. For example, the location of splice S119 is listed as "8 inches from the low brake fluid switch".

Harness Retention - Clips or clamps that are used to secure wiring will be shown on the component location diagrams in 8A-201.
