Circuit Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies B+ to activate the pump motor within the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). The EBCM monitors pump motor feedback voltage after activation to detect a stalled or binding pump motor.

Conditions for Running the DTC

C0111

    • Ignition ON.
    • The pump motor has been commanded OFF for longer than 1.4 seconds and then commanded ON.
    • Voltage to the pump motor is greater than 11 volts when the pump motor is commanded ON.

C0113

    • Ignition ON.
    • The system enable relay is ON.

C0114

    • Ignition ON.
    • The system enable relay is ON.
    • The pump motor has been commanded OFF for 1.4 seconds.

C0115

    • Ignition ON.
    • The system enable relay is ON.
    • The pump motor is commanded ON.
    • No other pump motor faults have been detected.

C0120

    • Ignition ON.
    • The system enable relay is ON.
    • The pump motor is commanded ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

C0111

The EBCM excessive current draw from the pump motor.

C0113

The EBCM detects an open in the pump motor ground circuit.

C0114

This code sets for a possible open in the pump motor.

C0115

The EBCM monitors pump motor feedback voltage after activation.

C0120

This code sets for a possible open in the internal EBCM pump motor relay circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

If equipped, the following actions occur:

    • The EBCM disables the antilock brake system (ABS)/traction control system (TCS)/vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • The ABS indicator illuminates
    • The driver information center (DIC) displays Service Stability.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • A history DTC will clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm between ground circuit terminal 31 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 46 and ground.
  5. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ fuse is open, replace the BPMV.
  6. If all circuits test normal, replace the BPMV and verify DTC does not reset. If DTC reset, replace the EBCM.
