J 43442 Flywheel Holder

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 309963  Size: SH
  1. Remove the automatic transaxle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  2. Use the J 43442 to secure the flywheel in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.

  3. Object Number: 54396  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the 6 flywheel bolts.
  5. Remove 5 of the 6 flywheel bolts leaving one bolt at the top of the crankshaft rotation.
  6. Grip the flywheel and remove the remaining bolt. Do not drop the flywheel when removing the final bolt.
  7. Remove the engine flywheel retainer and the flywheel.
  8. Clean the engine flywheel bolt threads and bolt holes.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 309963  Size: SH
  1. Install the flywheel and the flywheel retainer.
  2. Use the J 43442 to secure the flywheel in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 54396  Size: SH
  4. Install the engine flywheel bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 71 N·m (52 lb ft).

  6. Measure the flywheel runout:
  7. 4.1. Install a dial indicator on the engine block and inspect the engine flywheel runout at 3 attaching bosses. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications .
    4.2. If the condition cannot be corrected, replace the engine flywheel.
  8. Install the automatic transaxle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
