  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the rear washer operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the rear wiper motor operate when the washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the rear washer control circuit terminal in the wiper motor connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 10

Test the rear washer control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

  1. Disconnect the rear washer pump connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the rear washer control circuit terminal in the washer pump harness connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 7

  1. Connect a test lamp from the rear washer control circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the washer pump harness connector.
  2. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Repair the rear washer control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the rear washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the rear wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Accessory Trim Plate, Driver Information Display Switch Replacement - Instrument Panel in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
