J 37088-A Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 730809  Size: SH
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing any fuel system connection. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the retainer from the quick-connect fitting.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Hose/Pipe Connection Cleaning Notice in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Blow dirt out of the fitting using compressed air.

  5. Object Number: 12780  Size: SH
  6. Choose the correct tool from the J 37088-A for the size of the fitting. Insert the tool into the female connector, then push inward in order to release the locking tabs.
  7. Caution: Refer to Relieving Fuel Pressure Caution in the Preface section.

  8. Pull the connection apart.
  9. Use a clean shop towel in order to wipe off the male pipe end.
  10. Inspect both ends of the fitting for dirt and burrs. Clean or replace the components as required.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fuel Pipe Fitting Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe end.

  2. Object Number: 12786  Size: SH
  3. Push both sides of the fitting together in order to snap the retaining tabs into place.

  4. Object Number: 12787  Size: SH
  5. Once installed, pull on both sides of the fitting in order to make sure the connection is secure.

  7. Install the retainer to the quick-connect fitting.
