1. Power Sliding Door Malfunction

2. Power Sliding Door Open/Close Switch Inoperative

Circuit/System Description

The left and right power sliding door modules (PSDM) monitor the voltage of the left and right sliding door open/close switch signal circuit in the overhead console multifunction switch and the sliding door open/close switch in the left and right B-pillar. When the door open/close switch is pressed, it provides a ground for the appropriate sliding door open/close switch signal circuit. The corresponding PSDM detects the voltage drop and interprets this as a request to open or close the power sliding door. The door disable switch works in a very similar manner, except when the PSDM detects the voltage drop, it interprets this as a request to disable the appropriate sliding door switch located on the B pillar.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool PSD Front Control Switch parameters while pressing and releasing the appropriate door open/close switch in the overhead console. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive.
  2. If the value does not change, refer to Overhead Console Multifunction Switch Malfunction.
  3. Observe the scan tool PSD System Enable Switch parameters while pressing and depressing the appropriate door enable/disable switch in the overhead console. The parameter should change between On and Off.
  4. If the value does not change, refer to Overhead Console Multifunction Switch Malfunction.
  5. Observe the scan tool PSD Rear Control Switch parameters while pressing and releasing the appropriate B-pillar sliding door open/close switch. The parameters should change between Active and Inactive.
  6. If the value does not change, refer to B-pillar Switch Malfunction.

Circuit/System Testing

Overhead Console Multifunction Switch Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the C1 harness connector at the overhead console multifunction switch.
  2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the appropriate scan tool PSD System Enable Switch parameter is Inactive.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PSDM.
    • Left door enable/disable terminal D
    • Right door enable/disable terminal F
  6. Verify the scan tool PSD Front Control Switch parameter is Inactive.
  7. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PSDM.
    • Left door open/close terminal C
    • Right door open/close terminal G
  8. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground.
  9. • Left door enable/disable terminal D
    • Right door enable/disable terminal F
  10. Verify the scan tool PSD System Enable Switch parameter is Active.
  11. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PSDM.
  12. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground.
  13. • Left door open/close terminal C
    • Right door open/close terminal G
  14. Verify the scan tool PSD Front Control Switch parameter is Active.
  15. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PSDM.
  16. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the overhead console multifunction switch.

B-pillar Switch Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate sliding door open/close switch.
  2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal D and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool PSD Rear Control Switch parameter is Inactive.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate PSDM.
  6. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool PSD Rear Control Switch parameter is Active.
  7. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PSDM.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the sliding door open/close switch.

Component Testing

Overhead Console Multifunction Switch

  1. Ignition Off, disconnect the C1 harness connector at the overhead console multifunction switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the terminals listed below with the switch in the open position.
  3. • Terminal C and terminal B
    • Terminal D and terminal B
    • Terminal F and terminal B
    • Terminal G and terminal B
If not the specified value, replace the overhead console multifunction switch.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the terminals listed below with the switch in the closed position
  5. • Terminal C and terminal B
    • Terminal D and terminal B
    • Terminal F and terminal B
    • Terminal G and terminal B
If greater than the specified range, replace the overhead console multifunction switch.

B-Pillar Switch

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate sliding door open/close switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal A and the ground terminal D with the switch in the inactive position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the sliding door open/close switch.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal A and the ground terminal D with the switch in the active position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace the sliding door open/close switch.
