125-125C ROUGH NEUTRAL TO DRIVE, NEW CLUTCH WAVE PLATE

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL 1982 THRU 1984 THM 125/125-C TRANSAXLES

NOTE: This Bulletin supercedes Bulletin 84-7125-2. Please discard previous bulletin and replace it with this one. Serial number break points were incorrect in the original bulletin.

Some 1982 thru 1984 THM 125/125-C transaxles may exhibit a rough neutral to drive shift condition.

Beginning in Decenber, 1983, a new forward clutch wave plate, part number 8652126 went into production on THM 125C model transaxles. The chart below provides model and serial number break points for installation of the new wave plate on 1984 models. All 1982 and 1983 models and all 1984 units assembled prior to these break points have the past model wave plate.

Therefore, when servicing any 1982 thru 1984 model THM 125/125C transaxles for this harsh neutral to drive condition the new wave plate part number 8652126 should be installed. Refer to the appropriate service manual for removal and replacement instructions.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
