This bulletin is being revised to include the 1993 model year.

The 1992 Eldorado and Sevilles built before the VIN breakpoint and equipped with the first generation RAPIE module listed below, will continuously tum on the interior lights for a timed cycle, turn them off, and then back on if the door handle/RKE input is shorted to ground causing a discharged battery.

All 1992 and 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles built after the VIN breakpoint or equipped with the second generation RAPIE module listed below, will disable the illuminated entry feature if the door handle/RKE input is shorted continuously to ground.

To diagnose these conditions check for a short to ground at the RAPIE module terminal A7. Refer to Service Information Manual Section 8A-114 for circuit diagram, and Section 8A-201-32, Figure A for component location. The short to ground may be caused by a shorted door handle switch (P/N 16626131), malfunctioning RKE module, or circuit 157.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
