INSTRUMENT PANEL & CCDIC- DISPLAYS FLICKER OR TURN OFF

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 86-89 E/K, 87-89 V

Some 1986-1989 Eldorados, Sevilles, Rivieras, Toronados, 1987-1989 Allantes, and 1988-1989 Reattas may experience flickering of blank instrument panel (IPC) and Climate Control/CRT displays, possibly accompanied by code E047. This may be caused by a poor solder connection in the Central Power Supply (CPS). If both the IPC and the Climate Control/CRT displays are flickering or are blank, check the part number on the CPS. If it is 16058596, replace it with P/N 16088406.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
