SERVICE/PARTS INFORMATION ON TCC SOLENOID

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 CENTURYS & SKYHAWKS EQUIPPED WITH WINDSOR BUILT THM 125C (MD9) TRANSAXLE MODELS (PDC, CTC, CXC, CBC)

1987 THM 125C transaxles produced at Windsor between February 18th and February 25th, 1987 (Julian dates 049 thru 056) (Refer to Figure 1) were built with suspect torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoids which could cause a condition of engine stalling when coming to a stop or while shifting into reverse or drive, after the engine is restarted.

If a vehicle equipped with the above mentioned transaxles exhibits this condition, replace the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid (Refer to Figure 2). Refer to the service manual for proper replacement procedures.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
