PART WARRANTY CLAIM SUBMISSION REVISED FOR NON DIV. VEHICLES

MODELS AFFECTED: SERVICE REPLACEMENT PARTS WARRANTY CLAIMS

A new procedure has been developed to simplify and improve accountability for submission of service replacement parts warranty claims on vehicles other than Buicks within the stated guidelines published in the Buick Service Policies and Procedures Manual. This procedure replaces use of the S-900 Form, "General Motors Parts Warranty Reimbursement Application For Non-Buick Vehicles," and its related manual application.

Handling of these type warranty claims will now be part of the current claims processing system, ensuring timely processing and total accountability of claim submission and payments via the Buick Claim Memorandum.

Following is a listing of the normally required claim entries and an example of claim input:

1. Repair Order Number 2. Repair Order Date * 3. Thirteen (13) digit entry - 4W44444444444 (one 4, one W, eleven 4's). This entry should always be made in place of the VIN * 4. Mileage entry of 001 (always) 5. Part count 6. GM part number of the replacement part 7. Total parts allowance (dealer net plus handling allowance) 8. Failure Code 9. Labor Operation Number (if specific number not available, select closest number). 10. Labor hours (actual time spent up to published labor for labor operation selected) 11. Line total 12. Claim Type "B" 13. Zone Authorization

* Entries that are slightly different from normal claim input.

NOTICE: Warranty Management System authorization codes will not satisfy authorization requirements, a Zone code is required.

Regular DCS applications should allow entry of the special 13 digit code in the VIN position.

This method of claims submission applies only to dealer installed service parts replacements on other than Buick vehicles and in no way changes current procedures for handling over-the-counter parts warranty (Claim Type C) claim submissions.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
