STALL DIAGNOSIS (GUIDELINES) COMPREHENSIVE DIAG. PROCEDURE

MODELS AFFECTED: SOME 1986-87 LESABRE, PARK AVENUE/ELECTRA, CENTURY AND RIVIERA MODELS WITH 3.8L SFI VIN 3 AND B ENGINES AND SOME 1986-87 LESABRE AND SKYLARK/SOMERSET MODELS WITH 3.0L VIN L ENGINES

THIS BULLETIN DOES NOT SUPERSEDE BULLETINS 87-6E-8 (CORPORATION NO. 06501R), 86-6E-11 (CORPORATION NO. 606501), 86-6E-19A (CORPORATION NO. 606504R) AND 87-6E-20A (CORPORATION NO. 706505R).

This bulletin is designed to provide technicians specific guidelines to follow, utilizing comprehensive diagnostic procedures. The procedures clarify the current diagnostic steps to effectively repair the stalling conditions. Each dealer will receive the following items under separate cover for use by their driveability technicians.

Section 6E Diagnostic Information

The Stall Diagnostic Bulletin outlines specific inspections and tests that are to be performed. It also contains a questionnaire for use by the Service Advisor as well as Section 6E diagnostic information. The questionnaire is to be used to obtain all background information prior to performing any repairs and is to be attached to the technician's copy of the repair order.

Repairs performed beyond the emission warranty are to be reviewed by Zone Service Personnel.

This time includes performing the basic diagnosis and repair procedures, and replacement of specified parts if needed (PROM, MAF, Crank Sensor and one wiring repair).

If additional parts and/or repairs are required, use applicable "J" labor operation numbers.
