Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the power steering cooler pipe/hose bracket stud.

  5. Object Number: 1798675  Size: SH
  6. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose (2) from the power steering cooler pipe/hose (3).

  7. Object Number: 1798791  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe/hose from the power steering gear. Discard the O-ring seal.

  9. Object Number: 1798708  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering cooler pipe/hose retaining nut (1) and bolt (2) from the RH side of the cradle.

  11. Object Number: 1798759  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering cooler pipe/hose retaining bolts from the front of the cradle.
  13. Remove the power steering cooler pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering cooler pipe/hose to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1798708  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering cooler pipe/hose retaining nut (1) and bolt (2) to the RH side of the cradle.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut and bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the power steering cooler pipe/hose retaining bolts to the front of the cradle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Using a NEW O-ring, connect the power steering cooler pipe/hose to the power steering gear.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe/hose (3).
  10. Connect the wiring harness to the power steering cooler pipe/hose bracket stud.
  11. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  12. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
