J 45059 Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Rotate the engine for service. Refer to Rotating the Engine for Service Access .
  5. Remove the ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  6. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement .
  7. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  8. Remove the right spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
  9. Remove the right spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement .
  10. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement .
  11. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .

  12. Object Number: 1369266  Size: SH
  13. Remove and discard the cylinder head bolts.
  14. Remove the cylinder head.

  15. Object Number: 54362  Size: SH
  16. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 54362  Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

  2. Object Number: 1369266  Size: SH
  3. Install the cylinder head onto the locator pins and the gasket.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 826677  Size: SH
  5. Install the NEW cylinder head bolts
  6. Tighten

    1. Tighten the bolts a first pass in sequence to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the bolts a final pass in sequence an additional 95 degrees using the J 45059 .
  7. Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .
  8. Install the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement .
  9. Install the right spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement .
  10. Install the right spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
  11. Install the pushrods and valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  12. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement .
  13. Install the ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  14. Fill the crankcase with engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  15. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  16. Inspect for leaks.
