Tools Required

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
2. Remove the inflator module . Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
3. Disconnect the steering wheel control electrical connector.
4. Remove the steering wheel nut.
5. Install J 42578 and J 1859-A to the steering wheel.



6. Use J 42578 and J 1859-A in order to remove the steering wheel.
7. Remove J 42578 and J 1859-A from the steering wheel.
8. Remove the controls and the control harness from the steering wheel.

1. Install the controls and the control harness to the steering wheel.



2. Install the wiring through the steering wheel.
3. Install the steering wheel.

Notice: If a service steering column has been installed, use care when installing the electrical connector into the SIR Coil. Use of excessive force will damage the SIR coil and cause the horn to sound when turning the steering wheel.

4. Connect the steering wheel control electrical connector.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

5. Install the steering wheel nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

6. Install the inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
