Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  4. Remove and reposition the front portion of the front fender liners in order to gain access to the frame front bolts. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 628909  Size: SH
  7. Position a floor jack at the front center section of the frame in order to support the powertrain.
  8. Remove the frame front bolts.
  9. Important: Do not lower the powertrain more than 100 mm (4 in).

  10. Carefully lower the powertrain in order to provide access.
  11. Reposition the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge hoses as necessary in order to provide access.

  13. Disconnect the applicable ignition coil electrical connectors.

  14. Object Number: 860797  Size: SH
  15. Remove the ignition coil bolts.
  16. Remove the ignition coils.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 860797  Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition coils.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the ignition coil bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors.

  6. Object Number: 628909  Size: SH
  7. Use the floor jack in order to raise the powertrain until the frame contacts the chassis.
  8. Install the frame front bolts. Refer to Front Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  10. Install the front fender liners. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  11. Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
