Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 670047  Size: SH

    Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

    Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching nut to wheelhouse stud (1).
  6. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (3) to the wheelhouse panel.

  8. Loosen the fuel filler pipe clamp.
  9. Remove the fuel filler pipe (2) from the fuel tank (1).

  10. Object Number: 670047  Size: SH
  11. Remove the fuel filler pipe from the grommet on the fuel filler pocket (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel filler pipe through grommet on the fuel fill pocket (4).

  2. Object Number: 670051  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fuel filler pipe (2) to the fuel tank (1). Fully seat the fill pipe to stop on the tank.
  4. Tighten
    The fuel filler pipe clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  5. Install the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (3) to the wheelhouse panel.
  6. Tighten
    The fuel filler pipe attaching screw to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the fuel filler pipe attaching nut (1) to the wheelhouse panel.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler pipe attaching nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Refill the fuel tank.
  11. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  12. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Inspect for fuel leaks with the following procedure:
  14. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
