Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement RPO LX9

1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
4. Remove the spark plug wires from the front/left bank spark plugs.
5. Remove the spark plug wire clip from the bypass pipe.
6. Reposition the spark plug wires out of the way.



7. Disconnect the heater outlet hose (1) from the thermostat bypass pipe (2).



8. Reposition the thermostat bypass pipe hose clamp at the intake manifold coolant pipe.
9. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose from the intake manifold coolant pipe.
10. Remove the left engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side .



11. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolts and nuts.
12. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.
13. Remove and discard the thermostat bypass pipe O-ring seal.

1. Install a NEW thermostat bypass pipe O-ring seal onto the bypass pipe.
2. Install the thermostat bypass pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the thermostat bypass pipe bolts and nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts/nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

4. Install the left engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side .



5. Install the thermostat bypass pipe hose to the intake manifold coolant pipe.
6. Position the thermostat bypass pipe hose clamp at the intake manifold coolant pipe.



7. Connect the heater outlet hose (1) to the thermostat bypass pipe (2).



8. Position the spark plug wires.
9. Install the spark plug wires to the front/left bank spark plugs.
10. Install the spark plug wire clip to the bypass pipe.
11. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
13. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
