Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1641077 Size: SH
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold.

    3. Object Number: 1642657 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from the ignition coil.

    4. Object Number: 1299208 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the spark plug wires (2, 4, and 6) from the ignition coil.

    5. Object Number: 1299397 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the spark plug wires (1, 3, and 5) from the ignition coil.

    6. Object Number: 1642634 Size: SH
  6. Remove the engine harness clip (1) from the ignition coil bracket.

    7. Object Number: 1642660 Size: SH
  7. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) clip from the ignition coil bracket.

    8. Object Number: 1646089 Size: SH
  8. Remove the ignition coil bolts/nuts.
  9. Remove the ignition coil.
  10. Remove the ignition coil studs, if necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1646089 Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition coil studs, if necessary.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Install the ignition coil.
  3. Install the ignition coil bolts/nuts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the HO2S clip to the ignition coil bracket.

    5. Object Number: 1642634 Size: SH
  5. Install the engine harness clip (1) to the ignition coil bracket.

    6. Object Number: 1299397 Size: SH
  6. Connect the spark plug wires (1, 3, and 5) to the ignition coil.

    7. Object Number: 1299208 Size: SH
  7. Connect the spark plug wires (2, 4, and 6) to the ignition coil.

    8. Object Number: 1642657 Size: SH
  8. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the ignition coil.

    9. Object Number: 1641077 Size: SH
  9. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose to the intake manifold.
  10. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
