Heater Pipes Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure

    Important: Do not disconnect the reservoir hose from the reservoir.

  1. Remove and reposition the coolant reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).
  4. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater pipes. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement and Heater Outlet Hose Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 1395479  Size: SH

    Important: Use a universal or swivel-socket with an extension in order to remove the heater pipe bolts.

  6. Remove the heater pipe bolts.
  7. Remove the heater pipe assembly.
  8. Remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.
  9. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1395479  Size: SH

    Important: Use gasket sealing compound GM P/N 01050026, or equivalent, to secure the new gasket to the heater pipes.

  1. Install a new O-ring seal and gasket to the heater pipe assembly.
  2. Install the heater pipe assembly.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Use a universal or swivel-socket with an extension in order to install the heater pipe bolts.

  4. Install the heater inlet pipe bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the heater pipe bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the heater hoses to the heater pipes. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement and Heater Outlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  9. Install the coolant reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
