J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power window switch mounting plate. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 467472  Size: SH
  3. Remove the cover in the armrest pull cup.
  4. Remove the armrest pull cup screws.
  5. Remove the screw from the inside door handle bezel.
  6. Insert a flat-bladed tool at the front edge of the bezel. Pry up to remove the bezel from its clips.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock switch.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the reflector/courtesy lamp, if equipped.
  9. Starting at the door bottom, use the J 38778 to disengage the retainers from the door trim panel.
  10. Lift the trim panel up to release the top edge and move it away from the door.
  11. Disconnect the electric connector to the radio speaker.
  12. Remove the door panel.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Before installing the door trim panel to the door, discard the old trim panel retainers. Use new trim panel retainers in order to properly secure the trim panel to the door.

  1. Install the new trim panel retainers to the trim panel.
  2. Position the trim panel by the door and connect the electrical connector to the speaker.
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the reflector/courtesy lamp, if equipped.
  4. Position the top of the trim panel at the window opening and press down.
  5. Align the fasteners into the holes in the door metal.
  6. Press on the trim panel in order to secure the fasteners into the door.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the armrest pull cup screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the armrest pull cup screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Install the cover over the pull cup screws.
  11. Connect the electrical connector to the door lock switch.
  12. Install the door handle bezel.
  13. Install the inside door handle bezel screw.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the inside door handle bezel screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  15. Install the power window switch. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
