Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 71463 Size: SH
  1. Install the wiring harness and TCC solenoid assembly with a new O-ring seal to the transmission.
  2. Install the pass-through electrical connector to the transmission case.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Object Number: 298139 Size: SH
  4. Install the valve body bolts which retain the internal wiring harness and install the TCC solenoid retaining bolts.
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the control valve body retaining bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
        • Tighten the TCC solenoid retaining bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

    Object Number: 298162 Size: SH
  6. Install the pressure control solenoid.
  7. Ensure that the electrical tabs are facing outboard.

  8. Install the pressure control solenoid retainer and retaining bolt.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the pressure control solenoid retaining bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

    Object Number: 298154 Size: SH
  10. Install the TCC PWM solenoid to the control valve body.
  11. Install the TCC PWM solenoid retainer.

  12. Object Number: 181573 Size: SH
  13. Connect the internal wiring harness electrical connectors to the following components:
  14. • Transmission fluid pressure switch (1)
    • 1-2 shift control solenoid (2)
    • 2-3 shift control solenoid (3)
    • Pressure control solenoid (4)
    • TCC PWM solenoid (5)
    • 3-2 control solenoid (6)
  15. Install the 1-2 accumulator. Refer to Accumulator Assembly, Spacer Plate, and Gaskets .

  16. Object Number: 173661 Size: SH
  17. Connect the transmission harness 20-way connector to the transmission pass-through connector.
  18. Align the arrows on each half of the connector and insert straight down.

  19. Install the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement .
  20. Lower the vehicle.
  21. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® VI transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  22. Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  23. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions .
