Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  3. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 460600  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering hose retainer (2) from the engine frame at gear.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.

  7. Object Number: 254768  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  9. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 254768  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).


    Object Number: 460600  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the retainers and the bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
