Removal Procedure

    Important: This procedure is for removal of the fuel filler tube ONLY. In order to remove the fuel filler hose connecting the fuel filler tube to the fuel tank. Removal of the fuel tank is necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .


    Object Number: 891295  Size: SH
  1. Drain the fuel tank below the level of the fuel filler hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  2. Open the fuel filler door and remove fuel filler cap (1).
  3. Remove the sealing ring (2) from around the fuel filler tube (3).
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Remove the wheel house opening fuel filler tube cover (5).
  6. Remove the bolt (7) from the fuel filler tube ground wire (6).
  7. Loosen the fuel filler tube hose clamp (4).

  9. Remove the fuel filler tube (1) from the fuel filler hose (2).
  10. In order to remove the fuel filler hose (2) removal of the fuel tank is necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891297  Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel tank if previously removed. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  2. Install the fuel filler tube (1) into the fuel filler hose (2).

  3. Object Number: 891295  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Position the fuel filler tube (3) for best fit and alignment then secure the fuel filler tube hose clamp (4).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  6. Install the bolt (7) to the fuel filler tube ground wire (6).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the wheel house opening fuel filler tube cover (5).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the sealing ring (2) around the fuel filler tube (3).
  11. Add fuel to the fuel tank.
  12. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  13. Install the fuel filler cap (1) and close the fuel filler door.
