Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the power steering gear heatshield.

  3. Object Number: 464485  Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering hose retainers from the engine frame.
  5. Remove the power steering hose from the steering gear.
  6. Drain the power steering fluid.

  7. Object Number: 183669  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the power steering line at the power steering pump.

  9. Object Number: 464488  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering line retainer at power steering gear.
  11. Remove the hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 254770  Size: SH
  1. Place the hose in position.

  2. Object Number: 183669  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering hose to the pump.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose clamp to the pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering line at the steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering lines at the gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the retainers and the bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the power steering gear heatshield.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
