Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

Pull the manual release on the fuel door release actuator .

Does the fuel door open?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the fuel door release switch
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release switch and the ground circuit of the fuel door release switch.

Did the fuel door release actuator operate?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 4

Connect a fused jumper wire between the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release switch and a good ground.

Did the fuel door release actuator operate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Reconnect the fuel door release switch
  2. Disconnect the fuel door release actuator
  3. Connect a test lamp between the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release actuator and the control circuit of the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release actuator.
  4. Press the fuel door release switch.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release actuator and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Repair the high resistance, or open in the ground circuit of the fuel door release switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the high resistance, short or open in the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the high resistance, short or open in the B+ input circuit of the fuel door release actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connection at the harness connector of the fuel door release switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connection at the harness connector of the fuel door release actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
